Trish Doyle MP, Member for Blue Mountains, will table more petitions to keep registered nurses on duty at all times in NSW nursing homes will be debated on Thursday 10 September. This will trigger a Parliamentary debate on the matter.
The first petition was tabled after the first 10,000 signatures were presented to Parliament on 24 June 2015. Since then, a further 14,000 signatures have been added.
This is an important step in the ongoing campaign to safeguard aged care residents with high and complex care needs in NSW nursing homes. It is vital that the NSW legislation for 24/7 staffing by registered nurses in nursing homes is made permanent.
There will be a gathering with community speakers outside Parliament House prior to the debate and we invite you to come and join nurses, supporters and community members.
