This meeting was called by the Greens councillors in order to vote on urgent motions relating to WestCONnex.
It is critical that council prepares a detailed and critical submission on the WestCONnex Stage 3 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) by the deadline on October 16th. Any such submission must also come before an open council meeting to allow input from the community before finalisation.
In addition this meeting will vote on a motion to continue funding for the No WestCONnex: Public Transport community organiser. A council taskforce should also be formed to oversee a properly funded communications campaign aimed at stopping WestCONnex from proceeding.
The Labor council team have publicly stated their opposition to all 3 stages of WestCONnex. We need the public to attend this meeting and ensure they vote with the Greens and progressive independents to support these motions and put up the strongest possible council fight against WestCONnex.
