Qld: How we can win fair wages

Posted on June 17, 2015

Now that the Queensland government has restored workplace rights in legislation, it’s time for them to deliver on your wages.
For three years, public servants have had their wages fall further and further behind because of the Newman government's actions. At the same time, the same politicians changed the law to give themselves massive pay increases.
It’s great news that the Palaszczuk government has fixed the law so that politicians' pay increases will be linked to your wage increases. But the government has not yet released a public sector wages policy.
With the state budget only a few weeks away, this is the most important time to act.
Members win when everyone is a member of the union and publicly committed to asking the government to do the right thing. We saw how successful that could be in the Bring on the Vote campaign that succeeded in having the Newman government’s anti-worker laws repealed.
To win fair wages, we need to make sure everyone joins their union and signs the petition to signal to the government that we want action for fair pay.
Let’s make the most of this opportunity - If everyone takes action we can win the best outcome. Please ask your colleagues to sign the petition today.
To win fairness, everyone needs to join their union. If you know someone who isn't yet a member, ask them to join here.
