Julia Gillard has been elected unopposed to the Labor leadership after Prime Minister Kevin Rudd decided not to contest the leadership ballot.
Gillard made history today as she became Australia's first female Prime Minister, joining a roll call of female world leaders that stretches back 50 years.
In the Federal seat of Macquarie, which includes much of the Blue Mountains, the 3 main candidates are all women:
Greens: Carmel McCallum
Labor: Susan Templeman
Liberal: Louise Markus
