The Special Screening of “Salt of the Earth” was a great success. People in the audience became very involved in the story. It’s not often that a movie is applauded, not just at the end but also in the middle of the story!
There was even disappointment when a malfunction caused the credits to be cut short! At a time when most people, except for film buffs & fans, are streaming out of the theatre to go home, the audience were more interested in reading the credits. The projectionist apologised for this, she was unable to explain what happened.
The financial results are as follows;
Salt of the Earth
Tickets sold 110 out of 134, $1152.00 Less Theatre hire $660.00 Less Flyers $24.00 Raffle $106.00 Donations $52.00 Profit $626.00
We also sold 7 DVD’s and one was given away as a raffle prize but I don’t have final figures for them yet.
Thanks to Maree Delofski for the introduction, Aunty Val Aurisch for welcoming us to Country, Nick Franklin and Nev Williams for selling raffle tickets, Sarah Shrubb, the Cooke family, Nick Franklin, George Lafferty, Greg Carty and the Blue Mountains Women’s Health & Resource Centre for selling tickets, the Blue Mountains Gazette for publishing our article, Blackheath History Forum for allowing us to promote the movie at their event and Mount Vic Flicks. Thank you, Aanya Whitehead for being our usher.
Also thanks to www.organa.com for allowing us to screen the film at no cost, except to promote sale of the DVD from their website. If you would like a copy, you can purchase it directly via the link or, if we get enough orders, we can make a bulk purchase.
A special thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed the show. That’s what really made it a great success.
The profit will be donated to the Blue Mountains Women’s Health and Resource Centre.
