This is in no small part due to the great work of active members.
These members and delegates have been visiting the worksite to update staff on the progress of the campaign to stop the privatisation of Ageing Disability and Home Care (AHDC).
Initially, staff didn’t want to “rock the boat”.
However, the recent announcement by the Minister about the fate of Home Care and the fact that few details and no guarantees were provided crystallised the threat to their jobs and conditions.
As a result, a number of non members were convinced that the best to make a difference was to join the PSA and the campaign to stop the privatisation of Home Care.
The day after the Minister’s announcement, the PSA’s Regional Organiser in Wollongong received an email from a member asking “when can we hold a rally outside our office?”.
Rally to promote a real choice for clients & staff of
Ageing, Disability and Home Care Services in NSW:
12.00pm, Thursday 13 November,
Parliament House, Macquarie Street, Sydney
PSA members are urged to attend the PSA rally to present the petition against the privatisation of AHDC to Parliament.
At the rally, the PSA will be calling on the NSW Government to:
Retain a role in the provision of services in the ageing, disability and home care sectors
safeguard job security, rates of pay, conditions and entitlements for staff; and give staff & clients the choice of whether or not to transfer to a private employer/provider.
